The “Best of 20**” postings are always piling up in the blogs of the colleagues at the end of the year. What what is actually “Best of”? Is the rest then just “fine”? It reminds me all these Casting-shows, where they compare artists with each other till there is only one left. But is it actually possible to press Art, Photography and Music in such a evaluative, upon its technical and creative level, concept?
I say No. As we know, we can always fight about taste. I find it very difficult to classify and to evaluate some photographs better then the others. Especially wedding photographs have their very personal value, even within one family there are different favorites. Granny surely prefers another picture, then the wedding couple.

That is why I name the year-overview not the “Best of”, but an expedition through the year. Wedding photography divided in engagement- & couple-shootings, details & decoration and the flow of the day.

I had a chance to accompany lots of wonderful couples, was on Sylt many times, as well as in Essex, London, Faarborg (Denmark), Berlin, Kassel, Nordheim, Hamburg, Lüneburg and Glücksburg.

Ich habe mal was ganz anderes gemacht. Mal keine Hochzeit fotografiert. Ich habe einen Film gedreht. Das Thema Film interessierte mich schon immer. Als Fotograf besitzt man auch schon High-End Kamera-Equipment zur Filmerstellung. Die aktuellen digitalen Kleinbildsysteme filmen mit 1080p. In Kombination mit den hochwertigen Objektiven erreicht man Ergebnisse, die vor fünf Jahren noch wesentlich teureren Systemen vorbehalten waren. Ich habe einen Imagefilm für polychroma gedreht, eine Letterpressfirma hier in Hamburg. Letterpress ist Buchdruck in Reinform. Dieses Druckverfahren nutzt man für viele hochwertige Erzeugnisse, z.B. Hochzeitseinladungen oder Visitenkarten. Gerrit Baumann widmet sich mit viel Liebe und Hintergrundwissen dieser Drucktechnik.

In Zukunft werde ich Imgefilme neben der Hochzeitsfotografie und Werbe/Buisnessfotografie anbieten um mein Angebot etwas abzurunden. Viel Spass mit meinem Erstlingswerk:-).

Wonderful weather, beautiful people, cool location, what could go wrong on this day. And nothing went wrong from the morning till the evening. As for the evening, the sky has indulged us with the most beautiful stars, so I could use this time for some wedding and group portraits. Wonderful Léonie Gené took care of the look of the bride. The main location of the day was Waldhof in Mölln, there was a preparation, dining and party. A very relaxing place, especially for guests with children. The marriage found place in the church of Mölln and then we took our time for the portraits in the surroundings.

The last wedding of this year had something: December and Sylt. It could mean rain, crappy weather or just dull overcast sky with cold keen wind. Therefore I was really happy, when the island welcomed me with the sun, after many hours driving in the rain. The wedding photographer got the weather he wished :-). The bride had frozen a bit, but they could warm each other up after the shooting.
